The Truth


THE TRUTH makes movies for your ears. They're short stories that are sometimes dark, sometimes funny, and always intriguing. Every story is different, but they all take you to unexpected places using only sound. If you're new, some good starting places are: Silvia's Blood, That's Democracy, Moon Graffiti, Tape Delay, or whatever's most recent. Listening with headphones is encouraged! We're a proud member of Radiotopia from PRX.


Our producer Jonathan Mitchell has directed a new project.

Day of Days is a six-part podcast series from Walking Cinema that recounts a meeting between Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Black mystic Howard Thurman, as King was recovering from a stabbing in Harlem in 1958. That meeting brought King face-to-face with the demons pursuing him since the Montgomery bus boycotts, and revolutionized his approach to the fledgling Civil Rights Movement. 

Jonathan directed, sound designed, and wrote the original music for the series, which was created by Michael Epstein of Walking Cinema, and written by Darren Canady.

We've re-mixed the story especially for this podcast, and it's followed by an interview with Bisson himself. 45 years ago this week, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon. To commemorate, we're sharing our pilot episode which asks the question: What if they crashed? This story is based on a real speech written for Richard Nixon in 1969 called "In Event of Moon Disaster." Performed by Matt Evans and Ed Herbstman, with John Ottavino as Richard Nixon. Our story was written and produced by Jonathan Mitchell, and edited by Hillary Frank.
