देवदर्शनम्

कस्मिंश्चित् आश्रमे कश्चन तरुणः छात्रः दश वर्षाणि अधीत्य भगवद्दर्शनार्थम् आशावान् आसीत् । गुरुः तस्य इच्छां ज्ञातवान् । उद्विग्नेन छात्रेण भगवतः दर्शनं कदा इति पृष्टे गुरुः शान्ततया श्वः इति प्रत्युत्तरं ददाति स्म । द्वितीयदिने गुरुं प्रति गतं छात्रं गुरुः उक्तवान् - “यः भगवतः स्वरूपं तथा तस्य तत्त्वं स्पष्टं न जानाति, तस्य भगवतः दर्शनं कथं संभवति? तत् तु ध्यानमार्गेण एव साध्यम्” इति । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)

In one of the ashrams, a young student had been hoping to see God for ten years. The teacher knew what he wanted. When the excited student asked him when he would get a glimpse of the Lord, the Guru calmly replied, "Tomorrow." On the second day, the Guru said to the student who had gone to the Guru: "How can one have a vision of the Lord who does not clearly understand His nature and His essence? This is the path of meditation. "
