    Thought-provoking

After finishing two of Sebastian's books, I thought I finished off with The Riot Act.I very much preferred the other two books, Sally Bong, and Gimme Lao, which is locally funny, and I can relate very much to it.However, the Riot Act seems to have less punch as required. I find this is not the author's best. However, he has the ability to make use of a real situation to spin a story out of this is remarkable! He also made a daring attempt to add some of the political spin to it too.Overall, I enjoyed the local writing and will continue to support the local writing scene.

I really enjoyed how the story reveals and unravels the machinations that go on on the sociopolitical arena as politicians and civil servants try to "cover their asses" in the midst of a major social event, and how it all becomes a game of "who got there first" and optics as social media and the public got involved. However, I cannot shake off the unease at how the migrant workers are reduced to faceless figures in the backdrop, the plot points and background dancers to the drama of the Singaporean frontrunners.
