Sakhav P.Krishna Pillai(as his comrades fondly call him),the legendary Communist leader of Kerala, was imprisoned in the Edalakkudi jail near Nagarcovil after he was arrested from Vaikkom as an accused in the Mattannur,Morazha incidents.That was a prison where those sentenced to death were kept. Some of the wardends helped him to connect with the outside world. Thankamma,17 year old student,residing nearby,brought Hindi books for him,through which he used to send and receive notes. Gradually love blossomed between them,without seeing or hearing each other.When he was released from the prison,he married her.But that lasted only for seven years,as he died in Alappuzha due to snake bite,while in hiding. K.V Mohankumar's novel is the story of the rare love that bloomed on the burning paths of revolution.
