Summary of Emily Ratajkowski's My Body

#1 My mother told me that when I was born, the doctor said that I was beautiful. The next day, her brother came to the hospital just to see me. He said that I was the most beautiful baby he’d ever seen.

#2 I am in hair and makeup on a photoshoot, and the hairdresser’s assistant asks me what my ethnicity is. I tell him simply: I’m a white girl. He laughs.

#3 My mother, who is classically beautiful, has been compared to Elizabeth Taylor. People of a certain generation used to tell her that she looked like a young Vivien Leigh. I would imagine the silky texture of her homecoming-queen sash and the weight of the sparkling crown she wore in her yearbook pictures.

#4 My parents have a wooden bureau in their living room that holds their silverware and china. Guests always gravitate toward one of the frames, which contains two circular images playfully angled toward each other. On the right is a black-and-white picture of my mother when she was in elementary school, with her pigtails. On the left is a picture of me at around the same age, with a black headband sweeping my hair away from my face.
