#1 Hekate is the goddess of Witches. She has been many things over the years, but to both ancient devotees and modern day Witches, she is the goddess of death.

#2 I had been dedicated to the goddess Hekate, and I had created the spiritual community I had always hoped to find through her. I had been enthralled with her appeal to the brilliant cross-section of cultures and practices that made up the New York Witchcraft community.

#3 Hekate was a goddess of ancient Greece who was first described by the poet Hesiod in the eighth century BCE. She was a Titan who helped overthrow the old way of life to make way for the new. She was sometimes associated with bulls and was described as bullheaded or bull-faced.

#4 Hekate was the guardian of places where three roads met, and she helped souls navigate crossroads between the world of the living and the underworld inhabited by the dead. She was a goddess of fertility.
