#3 The coming decades are likely to be marked by dramatic dislocations as a result of our social and ecological crises. We do not advocate nihilism, but we take seriously the biophysical limits of the ecosphere and human limits.

#4 We must have multiple working hypotheses to deal with the multiple cascading crises. We must understand and be able to deal with the crisis of consumption, which is easy to understand, but we must also understand and be able to deal with the crisis of meaning, which is not so easy.
