His legacy continued with his son Duncan, who also served in the RAF during the Second World War, flying low-level intruder operations in de Havilland Mosquitoes and earning a DFC and a US DFC—and he also left his mark on his native Chesterfield, where he served as mayor, among other prominent positions.
