#1 It was a typical afternoon in Northeastern Ohio. The type of day when blackbirds, grazing together by the thousands in fields off to the side of the road, are spooked by the slightest sound and flutter away like a school of minnows.

#2 Carolyn heard a loud pop, and saw someone on a motorcycle inside the parking lot. She took off up the steep embankment, hoping to bag the kids, but when she made it around the corner, she noticed there wasn’t anyone around.

#3 When Mark got back to the tirebox, he heard Carolyn panicking over the PA system. He saw a motorcyclist stop near the SUV, turn toward Carolyn, and give her a threatening look. Then the motorcyclist sped off toward Home Avenue.

#4 In 1970, Ed Moriarty was a patrol officer for the Akron Police Department. He saw an ad in the newspaper for the police department, and applied. He became a patrol officer, and his life’s passion was born.
