The field of gastroenterology has a broad scope, as it encompasses diseases and conditions affecting various parts of the digestive tract, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. These conditions often present with symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and heartburn. In more severe cases, conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and liver diseases such as hepatitis or cirrhosis can have long-term health consequences and require specialized care.
