I figured being an extra for a local production would be a harmless distraction—a way for me to forget my charmed life is imploding. Sure, I'm the one who blew the whistle on my family business, but that doesn't make it any easier to sit around in the fallout. Worse, I have to spend every last minute on set with a woman who was hurt by my parents' greed. I'm determined to help her, thereby evening the scales of justice, but Delia Evans is so sunshiney and naïve and . . .

It seemed like fate when I got hired to be in this movie. My high school crush is the lead actor, and the hours fit comfortably into my schedule of being a dog walker, granddaughter for hire, and a mermaid for children's events.

Only it turns out my former crush is a jerk, and I'm paired with a man whose last name guarantees he's my enemy. Lucas Burke is gorgeous and interesting, but even if he weren't a Burke, he's what my elderly landlord would call a cad. I know better than to have anything to do with him. Or at least that's what I think until accidents start happening on set . . .
