Algorithmic Trading for Beginners: A Practical Guide to Algorithmic and AI Trading

If you have ever wondered how computers make trading decisions or whether you can build your own trading bot, this book is for you. Algorithmic Trading for Beginners strips away the hype and gives you a clear, honest look at how algorithmic and AI trading actually works in real markets. You will learn the core concepts—from simple rule-based systems to machine learning models—without needing a PhD in finance or programming. Each chapter builds on the last, guiding you through the practical steps of designing, backtesting, and evaluating a trading strategy. But this is not a get-rich-quick manual. The author, Grace Lin Mercer, repeatedly emphasizes the real risks: most algorithmic traders lose money, past performance never predicts future results, and leverage can wipe out your entire account. You will understand the common pitfalls, how to spot scams, and why a realistic mindset matters more than any algorithm. Whether you are a curious beginner or a hobbyist coder, this book equips you with the knowledge to explore algorithmic trading responsibly. Part of The AI Trading Library.
