Sometimes, what’s familiar to us isn’t what it seems. A loved one sings a song they’ve never known, their laugh rings fake, their touch feels... wrong. Doppelgangers, changelings, these are names we give to people, the things that slip into our lives unnoticed, wearing borrowed faces. We tell ourselves it’s just in our heads. But sometimes we know deep in our gut, the person beside us isn’t the person we know, and they’re definitely someone we cannot trust.
