“Opposite The Crowd '' is a series of conversations that spans decades. It’s a body of work, a compilation of interviews, that reveals a way of thinking and a belief system that creates a unique culture – a successful culture by any standard – and one that’s desperately needed in the present. It’s a profound and transparent advocacy of relatable communications that close gaps – with yourself and others. It’s about identifying a gap that exists in all of us – who we are, who we aspire to be, and how we close that gap for professional and personal fulfillment.

The storytelling shared in “Opposite The Crowd” is universal. It’s relevant for all generations in any place in time. Personal lives and professional lives intertwine. “Opposite The Crowd” pulls back the curtain and unveils parallels between managing a career and managing a life. It all starts with a way of thinking that unlocks limiting beliefs and propels readers into key areas of joy and prosperity. It’s an album of maverick strategies, by father and son maverick thinkers Alan and Chris Burkhard. Alan’s operating philosophies have now become his son Chris’ philosophies.

Initially, the intent was to curate a family legacy chronicle for future generations, but as the project progressed, a thundering undertone surfaced: Our conversations are impactful enough to integrate value into many lives. Our resounding through-line is less about chasing and more about innovative, even unconventional operating philosophies that could be considered nonconformist – they may go against norms – AND THAT’S OK!

Many of us live with a gap between where we are and where we want to be. In order to have what you want, you have to put in the work. To be who you want to be, you must know who you are.
