Pippi Longstocking

Pippi Longstocking is Astrid Lindgren’s most well-known and iconic character. The red-haired, freckled, and boldly grinning pirate-king’s daughter was created over many years of storytelling between Astrid Lindgren and her daughter, appearing in Lindgren’s literature for the first time in 1945.

Since then, Pippi’s countless adventures together with Hr. Nilsson and her trusty horse, Lilla Gubben, have become a true staple in children’s literature worldwide, winning the hearts of children and adults alike.

A beloved Swedish author of children's literature, Astrid Lindgren achieved her breakthrough in 1945 with the publication of Pippi Longstocking. Her work has been translated into over 100 languages.
