When Rickard has moved on to his new permanent foster parents, Sten feels betrayed – and again. First his grandmother, then his mother, his best friend Amir, and now also his new friend Rickard.

And the loss of Amir hurts too much and is unbearable.

Now it feels like he only has his ponies, Dandy and Pompe, to seek comfort in. And he wants to dare to believe that they will not betray him.

He takes care of them, and reads aloud to them from his textbook about pirates.

And soon, at Grandma’s funeral. How will he be able to face everyone he feels has betrayed him? And how will he be able to say goodbye to Grandma?

No, this is not possible. He can’t. Can’t handle this.

Three nights before the funeral he doesn’t sleep at all. And during the sleepless nights, he borrows Rickard’s TV games and plays them all night long.

This becomes his salvation.
