#1 I had been walking for hours in the rain, and I had reached the end of the town. I was standing in a busy queue by the side of a long, mean street. Evening was closing in, and it was raining. I had been wandering for hours in similar mean streets, always in the rain, always in evening twilight.

#2 The passengers were not pleased when the bus driver arrived. They fought to get on the bus, and the last person to get on was me. The bus was half full, but I chose a seat at the back.
