#1 The city of Reno, Nevada, is situated in the northwestern corner of the state. It is known as the Biggest Little City in the World since it was founded in 1928, when the two-lane highway that enabled travelers to get across Donner Summit to California was paved.

#2 The Meadows subdivision, just southeast of Reno, was the scene of a strange couple in 2006. George Reade, a communications supervisor for the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority, took a call at 6:43 A. M. about a person not breathing.

#3 The first shrieks of the REMSA vehicle’s siren broke the early-morning stillness on Otter Way. Paramedics Benjamin Pratt and Manny Fuentes knew that they were responding to a lights-and-siren cardiac arrest call, a Code 3.

#4 The Reno Fire Department and the Reno Police Department responded to the scene. The first police unit was on the scene at 6:52 A. M. They had determined that they were rushing to the home of Kathy Augustine, Nevada state controller, an elected official, and her husband, Higgs.
