#1 We often don’t understand ourselves very well. We often don’t know why we are feeling a certain way, and we often don’t know what is going on in our own minds. We need to understand that this is inherent in the brain’s architecture, and that we must work on understanding our own minds.

#2 We must learn to introspect and examine our feelings and desires, as we don’t escape from the task of introspection lightly. We must learn to recognize and address the symptoms of difficult feelings, as we don’t want to develop pernicious tics.
