On December 22, 1990, sisters Linae and Tricia Tiede were held hostage by two men when their family was spending Christmas at their Utah cabin. Their mother, father, and grandmother were shot and the two men planned to burn the house down. The sisters owe their survival to their heroic father, Rolf.

A Crime Before Christmas

On December 18, 1994, a wealthy real-estate developer mysteriously disappeared from his home in Las Vegas. A month later, the charred remains of his decapitated body were found. Authorities suspected his wife, Margaret Rudin, but she fled to Mexico before they could arrest her. “48 Hours" Correspondent Harold Dow reports.

Murder in Las Vegas

In 1995, Donnah Winger was beaten to death at home by an intruder with a hammer. Her husband, Mark Winger, heroically shot the intruder. But four years later, Donnah’s best friend revealed to police that she and Winger had been having an affair and that he had talked about killing his wife. “48 Hours" Correspondent Richard Schlesinger reports.

Invitation to a Murder

48 Hours correspondents Anne-Marie Green and Natalie Morales discuss “Survivor” contestant Joe Hunter’s mission to raise awareness about his sister, Joanna, who was found dead in her California home in 2011. Joe and his family believe that Joanna’s husband, Mark Lewis, killed her and staged it to look like a suicide. But the Solano County Sheriff’s office says Joanna was not murdered. Mark Lewis has never been charged with any crime relating to her death.
