Labour have marked the return to school with a mini-reshuffle in Downing Street, elevating a handful of ‘star pupils’ into key Government roles.

Among them is Treasury minister Darren Jones, now promoted to Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister – a new position with a seat at the Cabinet table.

But the shake-up risks undermining Chancellor Rachel Reeves, already braced for a bruising autumn Budget and the likelihood of major tax rises. Tim and Camilla discuss the political manoeuvring inside No 10.
