Harvard University President Alan M. Garber joins David Rubenstein to discuss the university's decision to sue the federal government over the freezing of approximately $600 million in research funding. He also addresses Harvard's large endowment and recent changes to admissions policies following the Supreme Court's ruling on affirmative action. Garber explains how Harvard handled campus protests related to the conflict in the Middle East, the uncertainty around visas for foreign students and the importance of having different viewpoints on campus. Former US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he likes the idea of an across-the-board 10% duty, but markets need clarity and understanding. Bank of America Chairman & CEO Brian Moynihan says over-regulation of lenders is the main driver of customers being shut out of the US banking system and not political bias, “We bank everybody. The real question was about over-regulation frankly,” he said in an interview on "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations." This as President Trump publicly rebuked Moynihan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, accusing the bank of limiting business with certain clients. Moynihan also talked about his inflation expectations, working with the current administration and the company being a bank of opportunity. The CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, the world's biggest single owner of public equities, says a fund of its size needs to be widely diversified across asset classes, because tactical asset allocation would be "very, very tough." Nicolai Tangen

Ray Dalio is the founder of the world's biggest hedge fund firm, Bridgewater Associates, which manages $160 billion. Through his Dalio Foundation, he has directed millions of dollars in donations to the David Lynch Foundation, an organization that sponsors and promotes research on Transcendental Meditation. Also working to make sure Bridgewater survives him, Dalio moved in 2018 to turn Bridgewater into a partnership and give employees more of a stake in the firm.
