Harvard University President Alan M. Garber joins David Rubenstein to discuss the university's decision to sue the federal government over the freezing of approximately $600 million in research funding. He also addresses Harvard's large endowment and recent changes to admissions policies following the Supreme Court's ruling on affirmative action. Garber explains how Harvard handled campus protests related to the conflict in the Middle East, the uncertainty around visas for foreign students and the importance of having different viewpoints on campus. He's on this week's episode of The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations. This interview was recorded October 14 in Boston.

Alan M. Garber

Former US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he likes the idea of an across-the-board 10% duty, but markets need clarity and understanding. In an episode of "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations," Mnuchin explains that he anticipates lower rates next year and is predicting “about 4% 10-year Treasuries.” Mnuchin who worked under President Trump during his first term describes the debt ceiling as an important mechanism and hopes that the President focuses on Social Security reform in the second half of his term. Steven Mnuchin

Bank of America Chairman & CEO Brian Moynihan says over-regulation of lenders is the main driver of customers being shut out of the US banking system and not political bias, “We bank everybody. The real question was about over-regulation frankly,” he said in an interview on "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations." This as President Trump publicly rebuked Moynihan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, accusing the bank of limiting business with certain clients. Moynihan also talked about his inflation expectations, working with the current administration and the company being a bank of opportunity. Brian Moynihan

The CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, the world's biggest single owner of public equities, says a fund of its size needs to be widely diversified across asset classes, because tactical asset allocation would be "very, very tough." Nicolai Tangen, who runs the $1.8 trillion sovereign wealth fund, also talks about his investment concerns and AI. Tangen speaks on "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations." Nicolai Tangen

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was first appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1980 by President Jimmy Carter, then to the Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton in 1993. 

 

Ginsburg is the second out of only four female justices to ever be confirmed to the court. 

Ginsburg sat down with David Rubenstein, co-founder of the Carlyle Group, and host of the Bloomberg television show, Peer to Peer Conversations, to discuss her health, the dissent that earned her the nickname of the "Notorious RBG," and the politics on the Supreme Court.
