#1 I was excited to meet my first SEAL. I knew the training would be hard, but I was too young to understand how hard it would be. I just wanted to be like the guys I read about.

#2 I was lucky. I knew from the moment I found out about SEALs that was my goal, because of the challenge. I was excited to meet a SEAL and learn from him.

#3 I had the desire to be a SEAL, and when I realized my purpose was to be a SEAL, I never stopped trying to achieve it. My parents had taught me that having a purpose and living up to it was important.

#4 I grew up in a small Alaskan village. I was the valedictorian of my high school, and I never had to wear a suit to work. I was always outside, and I wanted to be a SEAL. I never wanted to deal with stoplights, traffic, and wearing a suit every day.
