Tono-Bungay is a novel by H. G. Wells that tells the story of a young man, George Ponderevo, who is taken under the wing of his uncle Edward after the death of his father. Edward is a successful businessman who has made his fortune selling a quack medicine called Tono-Bungay. As George learns the ropes of the business, he also becomes increasingly aware of the ethical compromises his uncle has made in order to make money.
