As Graham Eliot digitizes manuscripts in the world’s oldest library at the foot of Mount Sinai, a monk reveals the existence of a secret artifact behind the mysterious death of the prominent archaeologist who discovered it almost a century earlier. Now it is lost in the ruins of an Istanbul mansion. But the only photograph of the artifact reveals an even bigger secret—Mount Sinai may actually be somewhere else.

While in Istanbul, Graham learns the graduate student who was with him at the monastery library is missing. His last known location: one of the dozen mountains that may be the biblical Sinai. A forbidden mountain in a forbidden country. Now Graham has to find a way to rescue him without being detected. And in the process he may recover a history with explosive political implications.

After a satellite image using ground penetrating radar indicates a man-made object near the peak of Mount Ararat, Ancient Near East Scholar Graham Eliot finds himself secretly ascending the slopes where tradition says Noah’s Ark landed. But the summit holds more questions than answers. 

A flood of betrayal, blackmail, espionage, and terrorism conspire against him as he escapes the mountain, desperately trying to find a way out of a maze of deception and false leads. As he descends Ararat, he discovers the greatest secret of all: Ararat may not be the biblical mountain at all. All he has to do is try to prove it.

The Place of Descent

When a Spanish priest learns of a skeptical organization’s PR stunt to replicate the Shroud of Turin, Graham Eliot becomes part of his plan to counteract the bad publicity with a new revelation about the Shroud’s authenticity. And the revelation relies on Graham secretly photographing the Shroud as well as the Sudarium of Oviedo—a relic believed to be a cloth wrapped around the head of Jesus as he died on the cross.

On the day Graham is to begin, the project is canceled without explanation, and a video of him calling the Shroud a fake and accusing the church of hiding something appears online. To defend his reputation, Graham must rely on the help of his eccentric translator as well as the skeptic who posted the video. But the alliance is shattered when a death occurs during the skeptic’s annual convention in America—and Graham’s graduate student is the one suspected of the murder.
