Nowadays, some employers make it a criterion to take an emotional intelligence test as part of their screening procedure, because they believe that those with higher an EQ make excellent leaders and relate better with people.

Most people do not know how handy it is to have people's skill. I know of a woman who is a good real estate agent. She works by the books and sold so many properties, but her emotional intelligence at that time was low. She couldn't connect well with her clients. When they tried to beat down the price of a property due to some issues, she could not relate. She started to lose her clients, and her boss had to tell her to take some time off to take some classes on people's management.
