Television studios are magical places, and I should know only too well with my family's history in film and television. Massive arc lights with perfect round faces hanging on to steadfast lighting grids, lined up above shining white-floored studios, scattered with sets, dotted with cameras, booms, and technicians. Each time I walked past a bright red 'on air' light stuck to the studio wall, I felt curiously alive. I had met Paul, my husband there, who was working as an assistant director at the time.
