Sankar, an MBA from the US, having a flourishing corporate career in Delhi gets married to a beautiful bubbly, effervescent girl, Chitra, nine years younger to him. They have a blissful and funfilled two years of marriage when Chitra is suddenly afflicted by a strange viral disease and is bedridden for life. He gets transferred to Chennai and on the train journey to Chennai meets a young widow Anuradha and her six year old daughter Nithya. He is strangely attracted to them and soon they begin meeting often and their friendship grows into love.

Sankar slowly starts moving away from his invalid wife Chitra who loves him with her life and decides to divorce her and get married to Anuradha.
