#1 I grew up believing that if you worked hard and were smart, you could overcome the obstacles that were placed against you on a societal level. But when I entered the workforce, I saw extremely bad behavior and bias.

#2 Examining your own privilege is important, as it can help you understand why someone else’s experience might be different from yours.

#3 To be inclusive, you must step outside of your personal experiences at work and seek different perspectives to help guide you in the right direction. It’s not easy, but it’s critical.

#4 I am both racist and benefit from upholding racist systems. I benefit from the stereotype of being a model minority and am viewed as polite, intelligent, and submissive, which allows me to prosper in white supremacist systems.
