ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
“The Sign of the Four” by Arthur Conan Doyle is a classic detective novel featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The story revolves around a mysterious case involving Miss Mary Morstan, whose father disappeared ten years ago. She has since received anonymous gifts of pearls, leading her to seek Holmes' help. The investigation uncovers a hidden treasure, a brutal murder, and a sinister conspiracy involving a group known as "The Four." As Holmes uses his deductive skills to unravel the truth, the narrative explores themes of betrayal, greed, and justice. Watson's budding affection for Miss Morstan adds a personal layer to the unfolding drama.
ABOUT THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British writer and physician, best known for creating the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Doyle studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, where he developed a keen interest in writing. His first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet (1887), introduced the famous detective and his companion, Dr. Watson. Doyle wrote four novels and 56 short stories featuring Holmes. Aside from detective fiction, he also authored historical novels, science fiction, and non-fiction works. Doyle was knighted in 1902 for his services during the Boer War and his contributions to literature.
