Dancing in No Man's Land: Moving with Peace and Truth in a Hostile World

We’re not good at living with tension. It’s uncomfortable. It feels unsafe. The moment a friend, spouse, business, or political movement disagrees with us, we flee to the safety of like-minded thinkers, and dehumanize and attack anyone who thinks differently. No one wins. And if someone dares question our particular stance, we demonize them.

This is killing us―families, friendships, civility, and discourse. It kills our chance to hear and be heard.

We must reject the notion that the path of truth forks away from the path of love. We must step out of our bunkers and step into no-man’s-land to find the way that leads to both. Thankfully, we have help. Captivating examples and timeless principles burst forth from the pages of history and Scripture. No one did this better than Jesus.

Our fractured world desperately needs people to speak gently, affirm truth, and think clearly. We need people, for the love of God, to be willing to step into the tension. Dancing in No Man’s Land calls Christians to the higher challenge of stepping into the middle of the war, offering peace and truth in a culture that wants us to take a side.
