This book is disappointing. I know it’s for “dummies”, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve proper information. Some of the terminology is off “multiple personality disorder” is called DID (dissociative identity disorder), and if me as a layperson can catch mistakes I worry about the credibility of the work as a whole. Furthermore the book discredits itself in its depiction of bite mark analysis. When it is first mentioned it is stated that “bite marks on skin distort and are therefore not as accurate as ones on unflexible surfaces”. The example of the Bundy bite mark is used, and while I don’t doubt Bundy was the killer, the guy who conducted the analysis has been throughly debunked and is in disgrace in the scientific community (so is the practice of bite mark analysis on flesh btw). I also found lots of the conclusions to be too bombastic, fingerprinting for instance is comparative and is therefore subject to human errors.
