The third book in the epic saga of humankind's war of transcendence
There is an unseen power in the universe—a terrible force that was dominating the galaxy tens of thousands of years before the warlike Sh'daar were even aware of the existence of Sol and its planets.
As humankind approaches the Singularity, when transcendence will be achieved through technology, contact will be made.
In the wake of the near destruction of the solar system, the political powers on Earth seek a separate peace with an inscrutable alien life form that no one has ever seen. But Admiral Alexander Koenig, the hero of Alphekka, has gone rogue, launching his fabled battlegroup beyond the boundaries of Human Space against all orders. With Confederation warships in hot pursuit, Koenig is taking the war for humankind’s survival directly to a mysterious omnipotent enemy.

Clear modern political tones, this author seems to really dislike Islam.

As said; to much politics. But I got other issues with the books as well. In general the author allows to much of his personal opinions filter through to the story, and I get a distinct feeling that many components of the series suffers from this, both in regards of how narrow each component get to wander and time spent at weaving each component into a believable part. Take these technical rants for instance, most people do not have a relation to declination of stars, arcminutes and stuff like that.. Yes.. I agree that you need to put some technical terms into scifi story to make it interesting, but more importantly you need, as an author, explain why, and how this affects coming events. A torrent of fancy words doesn't help the story at all, it cripples it. Then we have this awful patriotism, which in itself is a contradiction to much of the story told. And when the 4th of July card was played I strongly considered just giving up the series... Read 'Old mans war' instead.
