Afterwards she dedicated herself to managing the estate she now had inherited, and making sure her family would never fear poverty again. After such a first experience of having a husband, she planned to never marry again.

Years later man a wealthy man leased the nearby estate of Netherfield, and Elizabeth met her new neighbor's haughty and handsome friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy. Even though Mr. Darcy saw himself as superior to most of the local gentry, Elizabeth and he quickly became fast friends. But when Elizabeth imagined a happy future with Mr. Darcy, her terrifying memories of Mr. Collins returned to torment her...
