"بيرة في نادي البلياردو" هي الرواية الوحيدة للكاتب المصري وجيه غالي، كُتبتْ باللغة الإنجليزية أثناء إقامة "غالي" في أوروبا بين برلين ولندن في الستينيات، وتعتبر سيرة شبه ذاتية للكاتب. تحدثنا الرواية عن شاب مصري قبطي، شيوعي إلى حد ما، تفتّح وعيه على أحلام وخيبات وهزائم ثورة يوليو. ولد لعائلة أرستقراطية فقدت جزءًا كبيرًا من ثروتها في إصلاحات الثورة. درس في مدارس إنجليزية، وكان يتحدّث في البيت اللغة الفرنسية، مصري لم يلتق بالمصريين في حياته إلّا من أبناء طبقته وأقاربه وارثي الأرستقراطية الموشكة على الانقراض، والذين يشعر تجاههم بكثير من التقزز، وفئة المصريين الجياع البائسين، وبين لندن والقاهرة تدور أحداث الرواية، ولأنّ العنصر الأساسي في العمل الروائي هي علاقة الحبّ، يقع «رام» يقع في حب فتاة مصرية يهودية شيوعية ذات والد مليونير.
