Idgah and Other Stories

Munshi Premchand is regarded as one of the most prolific writers in Hindi/Urdu literature. His simple stories with deep meanings add a touch of nostalgia and longing to our everyday life. This book has three of Premchand’s most loved short stories. We meet Hamid, a poor boy, in Idgah as he heads to the fairground on the festival of Id. We see that his pockets are empty of money but his heart is full of love and understanding. Buddhu the shepherd and Jhingoor the farmer in Mukti Marg get involved in a fight and take revenge on each other. Will their evil deeds bring them satisfaction or make them regret their mistakes? In Panch Parmeshwar, lifelong friends, Jumman Sheikh and Algu Choudhary come face to face with questions of friendship, loyalty and responsibility.
