“They began kissing the moment Carl closed his front door. Gia considered it an act of sheer willpower that she had been able to resist him that long. He lived down the street from Two Brothers in the opposite direction from Betty’s, in a small house on a hill. Gia shivered in the desert night air as they walked up the sidewalk.
