One night, Mercer hears a woman screaming. He rushes to the scene, arriving moments too late to stop the shooter. A man is bleeding out in his fiancée's arms. While paramedics tend to the victim, Mercer searches for the assassin, but he has disappeared. And no matter what the police say, this wasn't a mugging gone wrong. It was a failed hit.

With the victim still very much alive, Mercer is hired to put an end to the contract, but to do that he'll need to find the hitman and convince him to give up his boss. Getting answers won't be easy.
