Step into an infinite world of stories
History
There was a time in the history of this State when men did not wait until their job's left them to go searching for gold. They left the jobs, and for the diggings without sigh or ceremony. Today this position is reversed. Many men are prospecting and fossicking because of unemployment resulting from the economic depression. There is a dark cloud over the community, and they are bent on finding a golden lining for their part of it. Good luck to them!
To assist them and intending prospectors, Robertson and Mullens Ltd. have published an "A.B.C. of prospecting," entitled "Getting Gold," which, as its sub-title shows, is designed for the instruction, in a nontechnical way, of the uninitiated fossicker. In simple form, with full illustrations and expert explanations, the art of panning, cradling, puddling, dollying, sluicing, etc, is made clear for the amateur searching for gold. The book contains a complete list of State batteries, extracts from mining by-laws, and phrases and terms used in prospecting. There is also a valuable map of Victoria, showing the auriferous areas.
A sound, practical, informative handbook this for the gold-seeker. Australia "can do" with a rich gold strike today. Who knows but that through this little book such a discovery may not be made?
