She pointed at the document she had dropped. “Aren’t all those things inside your resume?”

“Yes, they are.”

“Then why on earth would you repeat what I have just gone through in your resume?”

He bit his lower lip. “I thought… I mean, I was thinking that…that…that…”

“That what? Look, I said you should tell me about yourself. Not repeat to me what I already know. What is your name again?”

“Carlos.”

“Yes, of course. Carlos. Look, you should know that I am a very busy person. And I don’t have the time to waste listening to you telling me the same things that so many other people have said to me over and over again.”

“So many other people?”

“Yes. Or do you think you are the only person I have interviewed for the role of my new PA?”

“No. I don’t think so.”

“Good. So you should understand that if you really want to get this job as my new PA, you must tell me something that catches my fancy. Something that is different from what I have heard from others. What makes you different, Carlos?”

He looked around the office taking in the green marble floors, the white walls and the expensive paintings on them. From the window he could easily see the rooftops of several of the skyscrapers in their city, which easily confirmed that the office in which he and this MD were located was pretty high in that particular building.

“Carlos.”

He blinked and focused his gaze on her again. “Ma’am?”

“Are you day dreaming?”

“No. I was thinking.”

“What are you thinking of?”
