Jinxed

Carol Higgins Clark, bestselling author of Fleeced and coauthor, with Mary Higgins Clark, of He Sees You When You're Sleeping, returns fast-paced, humorous mystery featuring Los Angeles private investigator Regan Reilly and a cast of eccentric California characters.

In Jinxed, smart, saucy female sleuth Regan Reilly faces a new challenge—the case of a missing wedding guest. Regan has just returned from a tour of California wine country when Lilac Weldon, coowner of a run-down winery near Santa Barbara, calls with an urgent problem. Lilac's ninety-three-year-old relative, former silent-screen star Lucretia Standish, plans to give each member of the Weldon family $2 million—but only if everyone attends her wedding in two days. Lilac's free-spirited daughter Whitney has disappeared, putting the family's $8 million inheritance at risk. Regan's job is to find Whitney. But Lucretia's much younger fiancé, Edward Fields, has reasons of his own for wanting Whitney to miss the wedding. He hires an accomplice to keep her away—and when he learns that private investigator Regan is on the case, Regan becomes a target too. With a California winery setting, a missing-person mystery, comic suspense, and the witty, engaging characters that define the Regan Reilly mysteries, Jinxed delivers another entertaining case from Carol Higgins Clark.
