Tony joins the school newspaper just in time to write an article that commemorates Black History Month. He decides to focus his article on the great poet and writer Langston Hughes. He is surprised to find out that his mom wrote her thesis on Langston Hughes. Tony's parents decide to take him to Harlem to see the historic places that were a part of the Harlem Renaissance, such as the Apollo Theater, Mother AME Zion Church, and Harlem YMCA. Tony is profoundly affected by the rich history of the area.
