ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao tells the story of Wu Zetian, a young woman who enters the world of Chrysalis pilots seeking revenge for her sister's death. However, she quickly discovers that the system is rigged against women, forcing them into subservient roles. The narrative explores themes of power, control, and social injustice. Wu Zetian's relationships with Li Shimin, a powerful but troubled pilot, and Yizhi, a wealthy young man, become central to her journey. As she navigates the dangers of war and political intrigue, she begins to challenge the oppressive structures of her society. She is forced to confront the lies and manipulations of the world around her, all the while trying to gain freedom for herself.
