The Gregory Circle: The Day Physics Went Wrong

In a remote town near the Great Smoky Mountains, Bud Gregory fixes cars when he feels like it—and fixes them impossibly well. While the world begins to suffer unexplained deaths, equipment failures, and biological anomalies, Gregory remains unaware that his quiet brilliance may be connected to a growing global disaster.

Physicist Dr. David Murfree is the first to see the pattern. As evidence mounts, he follows the trail into the mountains, uncovering a terrifying truth rooted in pure intuition rather than formal science. What he finds challenges everything known about atomic energy, responsibility, and unintended consequences.

Murray Leinster blends scientific speculation with human insight, crafting a story where genius wears overalls and catastrophe grows from simple intentions. The Gregory Circle is a tense, idea-driven classic that builds toward an unforgettable confrontation between knowledge and instinct.

Murray Leinster, the pen name of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, was one of science fiction’s most influential early voices. Writing for decades, he helped define modern sci-fi with stories grounded in plausible science and deeply human stakes.
