When The Swallow Return

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. After ten years of searching for the father she never knew, Liera finally has an answer—but it is not the one she hoped to find.

Following her mother’s death, Liera leaves home once more, determined to trace the scattered records and fading memories surrounding Arden, the father who disappeared during the war. Calen, the man who has quietly become her companion and closest confidant, chooses to walk beside her as the road carries them west through ruined garrison towns, forgotten villages, and a valley where the dead have been remembered longer than their stories have been told.

Along the way, Liera discovers that finding the truth about the past is different from knowing what to do with it. The search that shaped her life begins to lose its hold, forcing her to confront a question she has never allowed herself to ask: who is she when there is nothing left to search for?

As the road eventually turns east, Liera and Calen begin the journey home carrying different things than they carried when they left. Grief remains. So do unanswered questions. But between them has grown something quieter and more enduring—a trust built through miles of silence, shared burdens, small kindnesses, and the simple choice to keep walking together.

When the Swallow Return is a reflective historical fantasy about grief, memory, belonging, and the difficult freedom that comes when a long-held search finally reaches its end.
