It’s an amazing book! You get thrown into this world without expecting anything and then it takes you, it chews you, and it spits you out, and you have left is to think and to cry. The narrator is perfect, making the whole book even better.

It starts fast and good but then for hours it just feels like endless filler. I cant barely remeber to keep listening. This book would be interesting if you're a language nut.

"Babel" needs to exist, for sure, and it covers many important topics such as colonialism and inequality, but I felt it was way too biased in the representation of British people to the negative extreme. On the plus side, its takes on language, translation and etymology were very intriguing.

Some curious details on Philosophy of Language, also a few historical ones. The author did her research, which is commendable. Also, as already stated in another review here, the book starts quite well.On the other hand, it soon becomes obvious that the story, characters, and dialogues are utilized mostly as a tool to prove a point or another, which makes them inconsistent, artificial, and quite pitiful. All in all, try it for yourself, you might like it.

I am too stunned to speak. Just finished it. I was about to give it 4 stars, because i had some personal bickering with the author about some decisions she made. But the final chapter did everything right. And Robins development was astonishing! I cried for half an hour. It ends perfectly. And the audiobook is just a MASTERPIECE!!

The ABSOLUTE BEST book I’ve read in so long 🙌🏻 I have so many feelings and thoughts about it, yet it leaves you unable to articulate all the strong emotions it made you feel. Brilliant!
