"Antigone by Sophocles is a powerful tragedy that explores the conflict between individual conscience and state authority. Set in Thebes after a devastating civil war, the play begins with King Creon's decree that Polynices, who fought against the city, must remain unburied as punishment for treason. Antigone, sister of Polynices, defies this order, believing that divine law and familial duty outweigh human legislation.

However, tragedy unfolds: Antigone takes her own life, followed by Creon's son Haemon and his wife Eurydice.
