#1 When we come to our end, if we are conscious, will we wonder what our journey was about. Will we perseverate over the mistakes, the roads not taken, the woundings. Or will we remain curious, tracing what was unfolding from within us all the while.

#2 The human ego is a thin wafer floating on an iridescent ocean. It can so easily be engulfed by the billows around it, but it arrogates to itself a privileged position, fancies itself a sovereign in a world of lesser beings, and makes large choices having large consequences.

#3 When we are confronted with an insurgency from within at midlife, we must not down an analgesic pill or seek a guru through whom we might find clarity and direction. Instead, we must turn within and pay attention to the thoughts, feelings, and images that flood us.

#4 The other is other, and not necessarily a friend of ego comfort or predictability. The call of the Other is often intimidating and even frightening to the ego world, but it carries the imperative and agendas of nature and divinity, and must be followed.
