The Timing of Maria

Carlos was walking down the street minding his own business. It's something he tried very hard to do. Minding his own business, that is. That and staying under the radar. But what he saw he couldn't ignore. A little girl was being dragged toward the open door of a van. The girl resisted. The kidnapper slapped her to the ground.

Carlos wanted to ignore it, but he couldn't. He intervened. Things became violent turning his already challenging life upside down. Carlos soon realized the crime he stopped was one piece of a multifaceted puzzle, and the solving of every piece came down to unlocking the mystery of that one little girl, the timing of Maria.
